Chainguard Named on the Cloud 100 and a Best Workplace in 2025

Liz Egan, Chief Marketing Officer

At Chainguard, you’ll often hear the refrain, “this shit is hard.” That’s because making open source software trustworthy by default without cutting any corners is hard—and at Chainguard we run towards hard things. Well, building a long-term, successful company is hard too. It requires the rare combination of unique market opportunity, innovation and execution, and a culture that enables teams to perform at their best.

I’m proud to share that Chainguard has been recognized by the Forbes Cloud 100, Fortune Best Workplaces in Technology, and received a Great Place to Work certification.

We know the opportunity for Chainguard is massive. Open source software is ubiquitous in production environments and maintaining the security of those codebases leads to toil for engineering teams, costing organizations time and money. We built Chainguard to solve this problem. Our Chainguard Containers product is already saving our customers tens of millions of dollars per year, allowing them to reinvest time and energy into building and innovating. The work we are doing matters, and this is just the beginning.

We’re dedicated to providing companies with hardened, secure, and production-ready builds of all the open source software they rely on, so their teams can build faster, stay compliant, and eliminate risk. And we’re executing to make it happen, building momentum as we continue our mission to be the safe source for open source.

We talk a lot about culture too – not as a fixed thing, but as something we’re constantly shaping and investing in. You don’t define culture by what’s written in a document. As our CEO and co-founder Dan has said, you define it by what people remember a decade from now. When a group of former teammates gets together ten years from now and starts telling stories, that’s our culture. That’s what we’re building toward. And if the last year is any indication, we’re on the right track.

These honors reflect both the impact we’re having on the industry and the environment we’re creating for people to do their best work.

Why This Recognition Matters

For us, these awards validate our market, and that we’re building a company that prioritizes both innovation and culture. Each award highlights a different facet of what makes Chainguard unique, and together tell a powerful story of who we are:

  • Forbes Cloud 100 is the definitive ranking of the top private cloud companies in the world. Joining this list means we’re building a business that matters, earning the trust of customers, and pushing the market forward.

  • Fortune Best Workplaces in Technology validates that our culture – fully remote, built on feedback, clarity, and curiosity – is world class. It’s what lets us move fast, put our customers at the center of what we’re building, and have fun while doing it.

  • Our Great Place to Work certification means maintaining our culture even as we grow. Over the past year, we’ve more than doubled headcount and added two new product lines, all while building a company where people want to show up to do the best work of their careers.

Looking Ahead

Being recognized as a company that is forging a new market while maintaining a positive, inclusive culture is a huge honor, but what matters most is continuing to live our values every day.

These awards reflect the collective effort of every Chainguardian. Our culture, our mission, and our impact are only possible because of the people behind them.
