Updates to LTS Images in Chainguard Images Developer Tier
To be consistent with our inventory of all Chainguard Images, we are making changes to LTS versions of the following Chainguard Developer Images, which will be removed from the free Developer Images tier in 60 days:
cgr.dev/chainguard/jdk-ltscgr.dev/chainguard/jre-ltscgr.dev/chainguard/node-lts
If you are using these Images, you will no longer be able to pull them from August 12, 2024. In order to avoid downtime, you will need to make some changes and we are providing the following recommendations.
What do I need to do?
The simplest solution is to move from the LTS image to the standard version. Note that this will change the version of Node or Java that you are using, which may require changes to your build system or application.
For the Chainguard Registry cgr.dev:
CURRENT LTS IMAGE (MOVING FROM DEVELOPER IMAGES TIER ON AUG 12) | SUGGESTED REPLACEMENT |
|---|---|
cgr.dev/chainguard/jdk-lts:latest | cgr.dev/chainguard/jdk:latest |
cgr.dev/chainguard/jdk-lts:latest-dev | cgr.dev/chainguard/jdk:latest-dev |
cgr.dev/chainguard/jre-lts:latest | cgr.dev/chainguard/jre:latest |
cgr.dev/chainguard/jre-lts:latest-dev | cgr.dev/chainguard/jre:latest-dev |
cgr.dev/chainguard/node-lts:latest | cgr.dev/chainguard/node:latest |
cgr.dev/chainguard/node-lts:latest-dev | cgr.dev/chainguard/node:latest-dev |
For the Docker Hub Registry:
CURRENT LTS IMAGE (MOVING FROM DEVELOPER IMAGES TIER ON AUG 12) | SUGGESTED REPLACEMENT |
|---|---|
chainguard/jdk-lts:latest | chainguard/jdk:latest |
chainguard/jdk-lts:latest-dev | chainguard/jdk:latest-dev |
chainguard/jre-lts:latest | chainguard/jre:latest |
chainguard/jre-lts:latest-dev | chainguard/jre:latest-dev |
chainguard/node-lts:latest | chainguard/node:latest |
chainguard/node-lts:latest-dev | chainguard/node:latest-dev |
Why are you doing this?
We are following our standard approach for all other Images in the Chainguard Directory, where only the :latestversion is made available on the free Developer Images tier. You can read more about our approach to Chainguard Images and our approach in our doc, “Chainguard Images Product Release Lifecycle."
If you require access to one of the LTS versions of the JDK, JRE, or Node images, please contact us.
