Chainguard Now Available on Microsoft Azure Marketplace; Scan Chainguard Container Images with Microsoft Defender for Cloud

Brad Bock, Director of Product Management, and Tazin Progga, Senior Product Manager

When we talk to organizations working to secure their software supply chains, one theme rises to the top: ecosystem and tool compatibility. Companies are investing in an ecosystem of platforms, tools, and clouds—and they need trusted solutions that work seamlessly in those environments. That’s why at Chainguard, we’re committed to meeting organizations where they already are. Whether it’s aligning with your preferred cloud provider or integrating with the security tools your teams rely on every day, we believe trusted open-source artifacts mean broad compatibility.

Today, we’re excited to announce two major milestones in that mission: Chainguard is now listed on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. In addition, Microsoft Defender for Cloud can now scan Chainguard container images as part of its vulnerability assessment solution.

Chainguard Containers on Azure Marketplace

Microsoft Azure is one of the largest cloud providers in the world, with over 95% of Fortune 500 companies using Azure and a presence in more than 70 regions globally. For many organizations, Azure is not just a cloud—it’s the backbone of their infrastructure. With our new Azure Marketplace listing, it’s easier than ever for Azure customers to adopt Chainguard Containers directly within their existing procurement and deployment workflows.

Our Azure Marketplace presence means customers can now integrate Chainguard Containers into their CI/CD pipelines, all while streamlining procurement and billing through a centralized platform.

Chainguard Containers scanning coverage included in Microsoft Defender for Cloud

With this new integration, Defender for Cloud is extending its vulnerability scanning coverage to Chainguard container images, providing an added layer of protection with greater visibility and more precise scanning results.

This integration ensures that organizations using Defender for Cloud can maintain consistent visibility and security posture across their container environments—including those running Chainguard Containers. We’re proud to work with Microsoft to help customers achieve secure outcomes with less friction and more confidence.

“By integrating Chainguard’s image hardening approach with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, we're adding a robust layer of container security that seamlessly integrates into CI/CD pipelines. This collaboration helps organizations shift security further left without sacrificing productivity.”
