Introducing New Updates to the Chainguard Images Directory
The Chainguard Images Directory serves as the central hub for Chainguard’s catalog of over 1,800 container images. It’s where developers can discover new technologies, compare Chainguard’s container images against alternatives, and start building with Chainguard’s free tier of minimal, zero-CVE containers.
We’ve rolled out several updates to make the directory more informative and actionable — including a built-in ROI calculator, newly added Helm Charts for faster Kubernetes deployments, and refreshed data showcasing the full scale of the Chainguard Factory.
Evaluate the ROI of minimal, CVE-free images in real time
The new ROI calculator, embedded directly into the images directory, lets developers understand in real-time how much engineering time and money Chainguard can help you save.
Here’s how it works and a quick demo:
Select the container images you’re evaluating.
Compare the number of CVEs in those images against Chainguard equivalents — both for CVEs in the backlog and the accrual rate of new CVEs over time.
Calculate your savings based on average remediation time and engineering cost per vulnerability.
Chainguard delivers immediate value by bringing CVEs to zero on day one — and continues to deliver value over time because our fewer CVEs show up in our images over time, and when they do, they are automatically remediated on your behalf. This means fewer incidents, less developer toil, and more time focused on building software that moves your business forward.
Simplify Kubernetes deployments with Chainguard’s Helm Charts
We’ve also added our Helm Charts to the Images Directory, making it easier than ever to deploy Chainguard Containers on Kubernetes. Our Helm Charts are soft-forked from Bitnami and designed as drop-in replacements for popular open source applications — preserving familiar configurations while integrating seamlessly with Chainguard’s minimal, secure-by-design container images.

Each chart is built, tested, and validated in the Chainguard Factory, continuously updated, and delivered as OCI artifacts to your private registry. With Chainguard Helm Charts, teams can:
Accelerate deployment: Every chart comes pre-packaged with values that default to Chainguard Containers, helping developers deploy quickly and with minimal friction.
Simplify management: Chainguard handles configuration, delivery, and testing, reducing maintenance overhead and ensuring consistent reliability.
Standardize security: Every chart uses Chainguard’s zero-CVE, secure-by-design images by default, eliminating vulnerability sprawl across your Kubernetes workloads.
Improve reliability: Each chart is delivered as an OCI artifact and is updated, tested, and validated in the Chainguard Factory to ensure reliable deployments
By pairing fully managed Helm Charts with continuously rebuilt, vulnerability-free images, Chainguard delivers a modern, more secure foundation for Kubernetes deployments — helping teams reduce risk and complexity while speeding up delivery.
Showcasing the scale of the Chainguard Factory
This update also refreshes the numbers behind our factory — a look at the scope and consistency of Chainguard’s engineering effort:

Here’s what each of those figures represents:
1,800+ projects: the breadth of open source projects that Chainguard offers customers
130k+ versions: the depth of version coverage across our 1,700+ projects.
250k+ images: the diversity of builds across architectures (i.e., arm and x86)
400M+ historical builds: proof of the scale and reliability behind our automated build system
Each of these numbers represents Chainguard’s ongoing investment in automation, reproducibility, and transparency — the foundation of how we help organizations simplify vulnerability management while reducing toil and risk.
